Farnborough Skatepark
One of the best features of this park is that its floodlit till 10pm every night and its free! Unfortunately, due to its positioning, and the fact is that this park has everything there is to offer, it does get pretty crowded! There are a lot of BMX’ers, a lot of bladers and a lot of other skaters all trying to get on the same ramps! Best to go in an evening or during school hours to get the best session.
This park is pretty big…and it has a large assortment of ramps including: 20ft Midi ramp, huge Volcano spine, Pyramid with grind box, flat banks all over the place, 15ft double level grind box and a 15ft Mini ramp. Most of this stuff can be seen in the pictures. My personal favourite place in this skatepark is the mini ramp. Perfect for messing about and watching Marcus get serious, poppin’ huge Nollie Fs Heels out of the top. Probably the second best mini-ramp I have ridden. (coming in after Bay-66’s supreme warrior!)
All the ramps seem really well built. There is a mixture of wooden and steel-frame ramps around the park, and the Midi ramp has a SkateLite surface. It would seem that the guys who built this park did the refurbishments to Hayling Skatepark (good job). This is defiantly not just another ‘bodged’ council job with ramps put in places to make it look pretty! The park really flows well in the street section with the burly spine and, pyramid boxes and quarters – Although this part is usually dominated by the pure-breed tight-trouser BMX’ers, so watch out for flying frames!
There is obviously a local crowd here, and some pretty talented skaters and BMX’ers alike… but you expect that with a park like this at your doorstep! Does get very busy, and you get a lot of people just sitting around in the shelters…probably sniffin’ glue or something! But I hear there is CCTV all over the place, so no need to worry about getting mugged or whatever...
Overall, a really nice park with loads to offer - Definitely worth checkin’ out at some point.
